A PILGRIM  AM I

          COME JOURNEY WITH ME
                             LILAC LADY-JUNEBUG2

TODAY LET'S LOOK AT
WHAT JESUS SAID
ABOUT
WHAT HE
CAME TO DO

---
John 6.35 - 40
John 6.35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6.36  But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
John 6.37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I shall in no wise cast out.
John 6.38 For I came down from heaven not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 6.39  And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6.40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jesus went on to say in verse 47, 48 two things about himself:
      v. 47    Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
      v. 48    I am that bread of life.

I believe in the Lord Jesus as the one who has saved me, by His wonderful gift of His love.  He died on the Cross for He knew He came just for that.  Here he states that He came from Heaven to bring us a picture of THE FATHER who sent Him.  He states here that He is the only one by whom spiritual hunger and the spiritual thirst can be satisfied.
I am a Pilgrim.    My home is Heaven - wherever Jesus is, that is where I want to be.
WHAT ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS HE GIVES US ?   WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE THIS JOURNEY?

           BEFORE TAKING THIS JOURNEY
           WE MUST CONSIDER:

           * There is a Heaven, and there is a Hell.  Those who put their faith in Jesus will be with Him.  God does not send people to Hell.   Because sin is in our nature, and because "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3.23) " we are all under the penalty of sin UNTIL we put our faith and trust in Jesus' blood that covers all our sin.   As a person I am DRESSED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS because Jesus took my place on the cross and for everyone for all eternity.    Anyone may come.  He will not send you away.

           *  As a Pilgrim,  I am to travel light.
               Hebrews 12.1,2
Wherefore seeing we are encompassed by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
As a believer I am a new creature
II Corinthians 5.17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
I still have the old nature - but it has NO GRIP on my life anymore - for I OWE NO OBLIGATION to my old nature anymore - and I am able by His Spirit who lives in me, be strong to say  YES to the Lord and keep walking by faith.
II Corinthians 5.21   For he hath made him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Romans 8.14  For  as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

*As a Pilgrim, I must know who I am.  A light shining in the darkness.
I am not afraid of the darkness, for I am walking in the Light.
John 8.12   Jesus spake again unto them, saying,  I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
*As a Pilgrim, I know who will guide me.  Jesus is my Shepherd, and my King.
Psalm 23.1  THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT WANT.
John 10.11  I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 10.14  I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
John 17.3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent...
When Jesus was praying to the Father before he went to the cross, this is what he prayed.  He was praying for you and me.
John 17.18  As thou has sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
John 17.20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word"

Did you know ?
THAT
a lamb is helpless
without
shepherd
to guide it
to comfort it
???

It will run everywhere
if no shepherd
is in sight.

If it turns over upside down...
think ! of it !
it lies there helpless
its feet up in the air
and it can turn itself
...
The shepherd has to come
and gently slip it back
on its feet.
----
*As a pilgrim,  I know
where I am going...
I have a Heavenly Home prepared for me.
Hebrews 11.10   In refering to Abraham, the Bible tells us,  "he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God."   Jesus promised that he was going to prepare a place for us, in John 14.2,3. "I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go, and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.
*As a pilgrim on a journey,
I need to keep things in perspective
Jesus said He is coming again.
I believe that He will come.

As the Bridegroom in a Jewish marriage, those who have put their trust in the SHEPHERD are waiting for Him to come at any time
at any moment,
so WE OUGHT TO BE READY
FOR HIS COMING.

*THREE MORE THINGS TO RECKON
ON AS A PILGRIM ARE:

* I can count on Him to be with me
in everything that happens to me.
John 14.6
I am the way, the truth, and the life;
No man cometh to the Father but by me.

He is the ONE and ONLY ONE WHO IS
         THE WAY,
THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.

*I can and will dress appropriately for the Journey as a Pilgrim.

               1.  I will put on my Spiritual Armor
                        Ephesians 6.10 - 20 list

10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil.
12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand.
14. Stand therefore, having our loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness:
15.  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16. Above all, taking  the shield of faith, wherewith
ye shall be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked (one).
17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God:
18. Praying with all prayer
and supplication
in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto
with all perseverance
and supplication
for all saints,
19. And for me, that utterance may be given unto me,
that I may open my mouth boldly,
to make known
the mystery of the gospel,
20. For which I am an ambassador in bonds:
that therein I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak.

2. I Will Know where my Resource is found.
Being dressed - I must keep my
mental alertness
my wits about me
"the helmet of my salvation"
is

The Lord JESUS Christ.

Matthew 1.21 the angel declared to Joseph,
"Thou shalt call his name JESUS for he shall save his people from their sins."

GOD'S FAITH IN ME
Galatians 2.20
I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life
which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me
and gave himself for me."

Rev. 22. 12 " BEHOLD, I COME QUICKLY."

GOD WILL SUPPLY FOR ME
ANYTHING HE ASKS ME TO DO.

Entry 7 - GOD MADE ALL THINGS

Entry 7 -  GOD MADE ALL THINGS

                                                 LILACLADY-JUNEBUG2

       TEXT:   GENESIS CHAPTERS 1 - 2

GENESIS 1.1 IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH.

DAY 1 -  GOD CREATED THE LIGHT
AND GOD SAW THE LIGHT, THAT IT WAS GOOD.
Think about this now.   If  God really IS God .... then He has a plan and a purpose, and delights in what He does.    If God is really the LORD  then He can do anything He chooses.   The first thing He created was the light.    Jesus said
"I AM  THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD"  John 8.12    He planned to come even before the world was made.   Jesus said in his prayer to the Father [John 17. 3] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."   Again, Jesus told the disciples [John 15.26,27]  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth,  which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.  And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning."    In Genesis -  the SUMMARY OF WHAT GOD DID is declared in Genesis 1.verse 1.   IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH.
Then it tells us that the Spirit of God was hovering over the depths/
              Then it was that
HE SEPARATED THE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS AND HE CALLED THE LIGHT "DAY" AND THE DARKNESS "NIGHT"
In the Hebrew  DAY is  YOM   while  NIGHT  is   L'ILAH .   I  like to think of the fact that someone must have named THE LILACS after the Hebrew word - for in the early summer evenings the fragrance of the evening is permeated with the scent of the Lilac blooms.
Before LIGHT WAS CREATED -  THE STATE OF THE EARTH WAS A MASS OF EMPTINESS AND CONFUSION.

Genesis 1.2  AND THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM AND VOID, AND DARKNESS WAS UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP.

In my life,  until the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ came to light up my life, I was in darkness and had no hope, and no purpose in living.    When I found that Jesus had come to SHOW ME just who God was, and how much He loved me, I found His love was all I needed to light up my life.

COLOSSIANS 2.6 TELLS US,  " AS YE THEREFORE HAVE
RECEIVED CHRIST JESUS THE LORD, SO WALK YE IN HIM"

2 CORINTHIANS 4.6 TELLS US " FOR GOD WHO COMMANDED THE LIGHT TO SHINE OUT OF DARKNESS, HATH SHINED IN OUR HEARTS, TO GIVE THE LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST."

Without light we are in darkness.
Without light we do not know the way.
Without light we can not find truth.
Without light we cannot find life.
Jesus said  "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME."   [John 14.6].

                      Let Jesus become the Light
in your life, and you will
                        become a LIGHT

I John 2.6   He that saith he abideth in him ought also himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

                              Come journey with me
                     Walk in the Light.
                      Discover Hope, and Trust
in the God who created you
                       who loved you,
who came as a Babe in a manger
                            for yo
who showed in His earthly life
                             obedience to the Father's will,
                       who became our Passover Lamb
                            and our Kinsman Redeemer
buying us out of the market place of sin and who has now
                   GIVEN US RIGHT STANDING
                     IN THE NAME OF JESUS
                       BEFORE THE FATHER.

Jesus said,  John 15.23   In that day ye shall ask me nothing.  Verily, Verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Again, he said, John 17.3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent."

     John 1.1 - 5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.   In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not.
     John 1.12,13,14
As many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  [And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,] full of grace and truth.

CHRIST - THE LAMB OF GOD sermon 2 by WM-H-CASH-JR-1927-2012

Entry 6 -  CHRIST - THE LAMB OF GOD

sermon  by WM-H-CASH-JR-1927-2012

                                                    JUNE 1,1969  SUNDAY MORNING

         PREACHED
 AT MOUNTAINVIEW BIBLE CHURCH
      DEE, OREGON

Rev. Wm. Henry Cash, Jr baptizing a young woman
in the river at Crescent, OR

       TEXT:   JOHN 1: 19 - 51

1.19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him,  Who art thou?1.20 And he confessed, and denied not: but confessed, I am not the Christ. 1.21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias?  And he saith, I am not.  Art thou that prophet? And he answered No.  1.22  Then said they unto him, Who art thou?  that we may give an answer to them that sent us.  What sayest thou of thyself? 1.23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the LORD, as said the prophet Esaias. 1.24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. 1.25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? 1.26 John answered them, saying, I baptize you with water, but there standeth one among you whom ye know not; 1.27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.  1.28 These things were done in Beth-a-bara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 1.29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith,  Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. 1.30 This is he of whom I said,  After me cometh a man which is preferred before me, for he was before me. 1.31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. 1.32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 1.33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 1.34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. 1.35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 1.36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 1.37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 1.38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master) where dwellest thou?  1.39 He saith unto them, Come and See.  They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. 1.40  One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 1.41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. 1.42  And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jo'na, thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. 1.43  The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.  1.44  Now Phil'lip was of Beth-sa'i-da, the city of Andrew and Peter. 1.45 Phil'lip findeth Na-than'a-el, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses of the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Naz'ar-eth, the son of Joseph. 1.46 And Na-than'a-el said unto him,  Can there any good thing come out of Naz'ar-eth? Phil'lip saith unto him, Come and see.   1.47 Jesus saw Na-than'a-el coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Is-ra-el-ite indeed, in whom is no guile! 1.48 Na-than'a-el saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and saith unto him,  Before that Phil'lip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. 1.49 Na-than'a-el answered and saith unto him,  Rabbi, thou art the Son of God: thou art the King of Israel. 1.50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou?  thou shalt see greater things than these. 1.51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

PROPOSITION:  THAT THE LORD JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD SENT FROM GOD TO REDEEM US FROM OUR SIN.

TRANSITION SENTENCE:  WE SHALL CONSIDER JESUS AS THE LAMB OF GOD.

I.  JOHN THE BAPTIST PRESENTS JESUS AS THE LAMB OF GOD.  vs. 19 - 34.
    A. John merely claimed to be a voice proclaiming him. v.19-23.
       1. The WORD existed before the voice proclaimed him.
                    John   1.1,2
1.1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  1.2 The same was in the beginning with God.
2.The voice is simply the vehicle or medium by which
           the word is made known.
       3.  The voice is simply heard - not seen.
       4. The Word endures after the voice is silent.
    B. John baptizes with water, but Jesus was to baptize with
         the Holy Spirit.   v.24 - 34.
        1. John baptized to prepare the way.
        2. John baptized Jesus, presenting him as the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world.
        3. Jesus would have been welcomed on the Throne, but He
must first be accepted on the altar.
                Hebrews 10: 12,18
This man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins
forever, sat down on the right hand of God...Now
forever, sat down on the right hand of God...Now               where remission of sin is, there is no more offering                for sin.

                 I Peter 1.18 - 21.
Forasmuch as you know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as  silver and gold, from your vain conversation  received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish, and  without spot; who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world , but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God,  that raised  him from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

II.   THE LAMB OF GOD CHOOSES FISHERS OF MEN TO PROCLAIM HIS MESSAGE.  vs. 35 - 51

   A.   Some are converted by hearing the message of the preacher. (John and Andrew), verses  35 - 39.
        1.  John the Baptist pointed to the Lamb of God, vs. 35 - 36.
            a.  Religious leaders of the Lord's day, rejected His message.
           b.   Great crowds - "multitudes"  were attracted and all sorts of men attended to what He said.
          c. But only a few were effected by His message.
       2. John's effect upon two of his disciples.   v.37.
          a.  Some follow Christ merely for what they would get -
                      loaves or healing.
    B.  A few followers followed Him because they felt their
need of Him and were attracted by the perfections of
               His person.  John 1.12.
As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

       3.  Christ's searching question - The disciple's reply, and communion with Him.  v. 38 - 39.
             a. These disciples were seeking fellowship.
             b. Jesus' discerned that they sought His presence, His
                 person, and His fellowship.
                 I John 1.3,7
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

 C.  SOME FOLLOW and are converted without any human instrument or agency, example of Philip.    v. 43 - 44.
        1. Christ finds and calls Phillip to follow Him.
        2. Our seeking Him is only the reflex action of Christ first
seeking us, just as we love Him because He first loved us.
                 John 6.44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him; and I will raise him up the last day.

                  I John 4.10 - 12
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.   Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

CONCLUSION:
HAVE YOU ACCEPTED THE SON OF GOD?
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT HE IS THE LAMB WHO CAME TO BEAR YOUR SIN, THAT YOU MIGHT BE THE CHILD OF GOD THROUGH HIS NAME.
THOSE OF YOU WHO BELIEVE IN THE SON OF GOD, I CHALLENGE YOU TO BE FAITHFUL IN PRESENTING JESUS AS THE LAMB OF GOD FAITHFULLY.
BEHOLD ! THE LAMB OF GOD WHICH TAKETH AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD.   JOHN 1.29
