GOD'S WORD DECLARES THAT ALL HAVE SINNED
by LILACLADY-JUNEBUG2
Romans 3.verse 23
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
WHERE ARE YOU ? God was calling.
Adam was hiding. He knew God had told him not to eat
of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but he had done it anyway.
Genesis 3.verse 6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3.verse 7 - 15
v.7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
v.8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
v.9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, WHERE ART THOU?
Now let us look at this for a moment.
The LORD God who made all things
knew exactly what He had made
knew exactly where everything was
knew exactly what His PLAN was.
Remember? He had given Adam and Eve all the blessings of the things He had made, by giving Adam the authority to rule over it all. Then He gave Adam a help meet for him - Eve. They were walking in the Garden totally unaware they were naked - they were His creatures, walking in innocence.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
LET US LOOK AT THE CHOICE THEY HAD
The command to Adam was (Gen. 2.16 -17) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
In the Hebrew it is rendered " dying thou shalt die."
Adam was naked and unashamed, with his wife, before he disobeyed and ate of the fruit. He had the responsibility to obey. He had a face to face encounter with the LORD God, but chose to listen to his wife.
When Adam answers, Genesis 3.10, Adam says,
I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.
And he said "Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat?
God is asking Adam to tell him what he did.
God cannot "do" anything for someone until we admit
our sinfulness. It is a change that Adam and Eve have had: no longer are they covered with the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD. Created in the image of God, they have a soul, a spirit, and a personality....and when Adam sinned, he became a sinner.
God was not taken by surprise. We must remember God knows exactly our humanity, and we are indeed created by Him, so He knows and understands. He had it all in His Wisdom and Foreknowledge planned out.
The Bible record tells us that God asks each one
and so, today, we are each accountable.
First, the man's excuse was:
the woman that you gave me
to be with me, she gave me of
the tree, and I did eat.
Oh my ! God you gave me more than I
could handle - it is your fault God,
you gave me the woman.
Oh my ! God you gave her to be with me
and she gave me of the tree
and I did eat.
So there it is said. I ate it.
God then says nothing and goes on to Eve.
"What is this that thou hast done?"
She responds with an excuse also.
Her excuse?
"The serpent beguiled me and I did eat."
The LORD God goes on to the serpent.
He does not give the serpent opportunity for why he did it.
Genesis 3.14,15
BECAUSE thou hast done this
thou art cursed above all cattle, and above
every beast of the field, upon thy belly shalt
go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy
life.AND I WILL PUT ENMITY BETWEEN
AND THE WOMAN, AND BETWEEN HER
SEED AND THY SEED, IT SHALL BRUISE
THY HEAD, AND THOU SHALT BRUISE
HIS HEEL.
THIS IS THE PROMISE GIVEN
THIS WAS THE PROMISE GOD MADE
THIS IS THE FORETOLD PROMISE
GOD WOULD SOMEDAY DEFEAT
SATAN, THROUGH A CHILD OF
THE WOMAN.
In Scripture, God deals with the woman next.
Genesis 3.16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;
and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
They had been commanded to be fruitful before
they sinned - so they would have had children without the sorrow
now she is told that as she has children it will be in pain. Her desire will be to the husband, and he shall rule over her.
Now God turns to Adam.
Genesis 3. 17 - 19
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the fruit, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shall eat the herb of the field.
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
The Bible records for us that God did not just leave them without any way to deal with their sinful nature which they now have.
First it records that Adam names his wife Eve because she is to be the mother of all living. The promise God has given to defeat the Serpent is on their heart. There is hope.
Next, God provides them with HIS CLOTHING.
They have lost the clothing of purity and innocence.
They are now S I N N E R S who will by nature sin.
Genesis 3.21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins , and clothed them.
THIS IS THE FIRST ANIMALS THAT GAVE
THEIR LIFE FOR CLOTHING FOR COVERING
THE MAN AND THE WOMAN.
I AM CERTAIN THAT GOD EXPRESSED TO
THEM, THAT IN ORDER FOR THEM TO
HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM
AND WITH EACH OTHER
THEY NEEDED THE BLOOD SACRIFICE
OF AN ANIMAL TO CLOTHE THEM
Genesis 3.22 - 24
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is
become as one of us, to know good and evil, and now,
lest he put forth and take also of the tree of life, and eat
and live forever, Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
So he drove out the man and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.
MATTHEW 1.21.
WHEN THE ANGEL SPOKE TO JOSEPH ABOUT
THE CHILD WHICH WAS TO BE BORN:
Thou shalt call his name J E S U S for He shall save his people from their sins.
