HERE I AM AT AGE TWO   OUT IN MY GRANDMOTHER'S

GARDEN.     I  THOUGHT I WAS  SOOOO  BIG.

GRANDMOTHER ASKED ME TO LOOK AND SEE

IF THERE WERE ANY PEAS YET.

GRANDMOTHER ALWAYS WELCOMED ME

WHEN ON THE FEW OCCASIONS I WENT TO HER 

HOME, AND SHE WOULD SEE TO IT 

THAT I WAS WELCOMED.

TODAY I WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT 

JESUS 

WHO WELCOMED THE CHILDREN.

Our text is from  Luke, chapter 18.  

Verses 15 - 16 - 17

And they brought unto him also 

infants, that he would touch them: but 

when his disciples saw it, they 

rebuked them. 

But Jesus called them unto him,

and said, 

Suffer (Allow, do not prevent) little children

to come unto me: 

for of such is the Kingdom of God.   

VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU,  WHOSOEVER SHALL

NOT RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A CHILD

SHALL IN NO WISE ENTER THEREIN.

This is a picture I drew - a memory of  hearing the stories

in my childhood.   

                 In this passage of L

 on to speak on the matter of   
STUMBLING BLOCKS.

            I find this comment by him.

            The little child has such humble faith, 

and this is seen in his criticism of 

 STUMBLING BLOCKS that anyone 

would put in the way for a child anything 

that would hinder that child from 

entering the kingdom of God.    

We all have stumbling blocks in our lives. We 

make the most of these ourselves.

Jesus uses an EXTREME to illustrate 

a spiritual truth: He warns us that 

we are not to do anything that may cause

a child to stumble.   The causes 

of these stumbling blocks 

are the hand - the foot and the eye - 

In the 18. v. 1 -10 

Jesus gives these warnings.

1. the hand, the foot and the eye are the organs of 

self, and the symbols of taste and capacities.

2. The hand and foot are the instruments of action

3. The eye is an instrument of perception.

The Lord uses the extreme example to teach a 

SPIRITUAL LESSON.

THE LITTLE WORD   "IF"  IS A CONDITION

IF IT COULD CAUSE ANYONE

TO STUMBLE 

POSSIBLE INJURIES RESTS UPON THE PRINCIPLES

OF OUR NATURE.  

WE ARE TO CONTROL OUR FACULTIES ,

SOME ARE TO BE SUPPRESSED,

AND OTHERS 

ARE TO RULE.

SOME PEOPLE'S LIVES MAY BE RUINED

BECAUSE OF OUR OVER-INDULGENCE IN

THINGS THAT MAY NOT BE 

WRONG IN THEMSELVES.

THE CURE IS THE KNIFE.

IT IS A MATTER OF SELF- DETERMINATION

1. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO DECIDE FOR US. WE 

MUST MAKE OUR OWN DECISION.

2. THE THING MAY NOT BE WRONG IN ITSELF.

WE ARE TO DECIDE WHAT IS RIGHT FOR US.

3. WE MUST THINK OF OTHERS, NOT ONLY OF OUR SELVES.

I CORINTHIANS 10.23 

ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL FOR ME, BUT ALL 

THINGS ARE NOT EXPEDIENT; ALL THINGS

ARE LAWFUL UNTO ME, BUT I WILL NOT 

BE BROUGHT UNDER THE POWER OF ANY.

ROMANS 14.4 

WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE 

ANOTHER MAN'S SERVANT: TO HIS

OWN MASTER HE STANDS OR FALLS. YEA, YOU SHALL

BE HELPED UP, FOR GOD IS ABLE TO MAKE YOU

STAND.

4.WE ARE NOT TO DO ANYTHING THAT

MIGHT CAUSE HARM TO OTHERS,

OR TO OURSELVES.

5. WE MUST BE OUR OWN DOCTOR, 

KNOW OUR LIMITATIONS, 

SEARCH FOR WARNING SIGNS OF

DANGER.

ATTITUDES

CORRECTING

ACTIONS.

WE NEED TO USE COMMON SENSE 

ABSTINENCE FROM ALCOHOL

ABSTINENCE FROM DRUGS

ABSTINENCE FROM TOBACCO 

SELF - DISCIPLINE IS THE BEST POLICY  

IN SUPPRESSIVE MATTERS 

1.  IT IS BETTER TO BE PARTIALLY LAME

 THAN TO LOSE OUR LIFE, OR SOUL.

2.  OUR HAND, FOOD, AND EYE IS ANOINTED 

BY GOD FOR THE PURPOSE OF SERVING HIM.

3. WE ARE TO LAY ASIDE ALL THINGS THAT 

MIGHT CAUSE US TO OFFEND.

HEBREWS 12.12 -14

  WHEREFORE LIFT UP THE HANDS WHICH HANG DOWN,AND THE FEEBLE KNEES 

AND MAKE STRAIGHT PATHS 

FOR YOUR FEET, 

LEST THAT WHICH IS LAME 

BE TURNED OUT OF THE WAY,

BUT LET IT RATHER 

BE HEALED.

FOLLOW PEACE WITH ALL MEN, 

AND HOLINESS, WITHOUT 

WHICH NO MAN CAN SEE THE LORD.

WHAT IS THE REMEDY ?

A. PREVENTIVE MEASURES ! 

USE PLAIN COMMON SENSE :

ABSTINENCE

FROM ANYTHING

THAT WOULD HINDER ME, OR 

SOMEONE ELSE.

THE ROAD TO INTEGRITY

COMES 

BY FAITHFUL

FOLLOWING

SELF - DETERMINING

LISTENING TO THE WARNING SIGNS

HEEDING THE WORD 

OBEYING 

WHEN EVEN 

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND

THE OUTCOME.

HEBREWS  12.1,2 

WHEREFORE SEEING THAT WE ARE 

COMPASSED ABOUT WITH SO GREAT A 

CLOUD OF WITNESSES, LET US 

LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT

AND THE SIN WHICH SO

EASILY BESET

US, 

AND LET US RUN

WITH PATIENCE THE RACE 

THAT IS SET BEFORE US LOOKING 

UNTO JESUS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER 

OF OUR FAITH; WHO FOR THE JOY 

THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM, ENDURED

THE CROSS, DESPISING THE SHAME,

AND IS SET DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND 

OF GOD. 

                       FINALLY, CONSIDER THE MOTIVE BY 

                        WHICH IT IS TO BE ENFORCED: 

                  A.   IT IS BETTER  -----    Jesus uses

                          self-denial and self-mutilation as

                           the highest ground for our own well being.    

                      1. Life and death depends on our faith and 

                           conduct. 

                       2. We need to watch for the Spirit's warning 

                           signals. 

                       3.   We have the contrast made between a 

                               crippled man who enters into eternal 

                                 life, and a healthy man who is condemned.

                   B. PROMISE OF THE RESURRECTION:    

                       1.  NO ONE WILL BE RAISED AS A CRIPPLE...ALL WILL BE WHOLE .  ISAIAH 35.5-6

        Then the eyes of the blind hall be opened 

and ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then 

shall the lame man leap as the hart, and the tongue

 of the dumb sing for in the wilderness shll water 

break out, and streams in the desert. 

WE SHALL ALL BE COMPLETE

MATTHEW 5.48 

Be ye therefore perfect

even as your Father which

is in Heaven is perfect.

CONCLUSION:

OUR CHILDREN ARE GOD'S GIFT 

TO US.   WE 

ARE TO BE CAREFUL TO NOT

OFFEND ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES.

                     I.   LIGHT HAS COME INTO THE WORLD.

                            John chapter 1. 1 - 14  

                                   A.  Jesus the Christ is the Light. 

                                  B.  John the Baptist, was a witness to that

                                          Light. 

                                  C.  John the Apostle  - we beheld His glory

                           II.  THERE IS LIGHT FOR US 

                                 IN THIS DARK WORLD.   

                                  A. Source of this light - LIGHT FOR US. 

                                          John 8.12 Then spake Jesus, saying 

                                         unto them, I am the light of the world,

                                         he that followeth me shall not walk in 

                                         darkness, but shall have the light of life.

                                   B. Spirit of that Light -  LIGHT IN US.  

                                         I John 4.13    Hereby know we that we 

                                            dwell in him, and he in us, because he 

                                          hath given us of his Spirit.    

                                   C.  Shining of that Light.  

                                          LIGHT THROUGH US.

                                           Matthew 5. 14- 16  

 Ye are the light of the world,

 a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.   

Neither do men light a candle 

and put it under a bushel,

 but on a candlestick; 

and it giveth light

 unto all 

that are in the house.   

Let your light so shine before men,

 that they may see your good works, 

and glorify your Father which is in heaven.  

III.  RECEIVING THE LIGHT 
John 12. 32 -36
32. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, 
will draw all men unto me. 
33. This he said, signifying
 what death he should die.
34. The people answered him, We have
 heard out of the law that Christ abideth 
forever: and how sayest thou, 
The Son of man must be lifted up?  
Who is this Son of man?
35.  Then Jesus answered
 and said unto them, 
Yet a little while is the light with you. 
Walk while ye have the light, 
lest darkness come upon you, 
for he that walketh in darkness 
knoweth not whither he goeth.    
36.While ye have light, 
believe in the light, 
that ye may be the children of light. 

                                A. WHILE YE HAVE LIGHT -  
                            Opportunity to receive the Light is NOW.
                                 B.  TO BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT is 
                             like sitting in a chair - and knowing
                                it will hold you up. 
                                 C.   CONSIDER IT A PRIVILEGE 
                                        TO BE CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT, 
                                          AND SPREAD THE LIGHT    
                                         EVERYWHERE IN THE DARKNESS. 
                                                       
                                                    BE GRATEFUL

                  I THESSALONIANS 5. 17 

                    GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING, 

                   FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD 

                            IN CHRIST JESUS CONCERNING YOU.

            THE APPROPRIATE THINGS 

                                TO WEAR FOR THE JOURNEY
                                                     AND

 WHERE MY RESOURCE
 FOR SUPPLY IS FOUND

Matthew  6.28 - 34

And why take ye thought for raiment? 

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?  Therefore take no thought, saying,  What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink?  or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.   Take therefore no thought about tomorrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. 

The apparel that I wear for my Journey
is given to me by God.

Jesus gave us His Model Prayer in
Matthew 6.9 - 14
Our Father who art in heaven, 
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day 
our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts 
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory
forever.

First of all,
as a Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ
I am told in the Bible 
that as a Pilgrim bound for the Promised Land,
I am 
CLOTHED IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The standing which I have before 
the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE 
is none other than that of 
a son with all the Inherited Rights.

Jesus is my Kinsman - Redeemer.
For JESUS is His name.  Matthew 1.21 
 When Joseph learned of Mary's pregnancy, 
he was troubled.   He was BETROTHED TO HER. 
  This meant that - in the Jewish law - he would 
have to divorce her, for in the sight of that 
law, they were MARRIED LEGALLY.
He did not know what to do.

Scripture tells us [Matthew 1:19-24] that Joseph was 

a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.  At this point, he sleeps on the problem.  In the night, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David,  fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS [Y'SHUA]: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife.   And knew her not until sh had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

             

            This is very important to me as a 

Believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.    

His name means  SAVIOR, REDEEMER, 

and that is the same as MESSIAH - the ANOINTED ONE - 

Mary's little boy Y'shua was God living among us.       

  When Jesus died on the cross it was for me.

         HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WAS CREDITED TO 

               MY ACCOUNT 

                Each of us has to  CLAIM THAT RIGHT.

               John 1.12   But as many as received him, 

to them gave he power to become the sons of God,

 even to them that believe on his name John 1.13 

which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, 

nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1.14 

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,

 (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only 

begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

             II Corinthians 5.20, 21 declares

             Now then

we are ambassadors for Christ,

 as though

  God did beseech you by us: 

we pray you, in Christ's stead ,

 be ye reconciled to God

 for he hath made him

           to be sin for us who knew no sin, 

that we might 

           be made the righteousness of God in Him.

                   NOW THAT WE ARE 

                           CLOTHED IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS

                   WE MUST REMEMBER  

                             WHAT WE HAVE PUT ON   

                              USE THE SPIRITUAL ARMOR GIVEN US

                                CONSIDER THE "OLD MAN" AS DEAD

          

Romans 6.11

Likewise, reckon ye 
also yourselves
to be dead indeed unto sin, 
but 
alive unto God
 through Jesus Christ our Lord.

              

                         My hope is built on nothing less                             Than Jesus' blood and righteousness ...                           I dare not trust the sweetest frame...                           But wholly lean on Jesus' name.                                               On Christ the solid rock I stand                                               All other ground is sinking sand !                                                All other ground is sinking sand !                          When darkness veils His lovely face,                           I rest on His unchanging grace,                           In every high and stormy gale                              My anchor holds within the veil.                                                        His oath, His covenant, His blood support me                                  in the whelming flood,                              When all around my soul gives way,                              He then is all my hope and stay.
                             When He shall come with trumpet sound,                              Oh may I then in Him be found...                               Dressed in His righteousness alone,                               Faultless to stand before His throne.                                                               On Christ the solid rock I stand                                               All other ground is sinking sand !                                                All other ground is sinking sand !

Ephesians 6 will be the subject of my
next post -  This gives us the 
SPIRITUAL ARMOR
for you and I as Pilgrims 
bound for our Home in Heaven.

Psalm 1. verse 5,6
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand 
in the judgment, nor sinners
in the congregation of the righteous
for the LORD knoweth the way of 
the righteous: but the way 
of the ungodly shall perish. 

Thinking this out helps
when the stress of living
falls into our lives.
Each of us need to thing out
with a clear conscience
how to cope
and how to do
what one MUST DO, God helping me.

Philippians 4.13
I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4.19 
But my God shall supply all your need 
according to his riches in glory 
by Christ Jesus.

Romans 12.1,2 
I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by 
the mercies of God that ye present 
your bodies
a living sacrifice, 
holy,
acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed
to this world; but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove 
what is that good and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.

AS THE ROSES BLOOM AND FADE

GOD'S WORD ENDURES FOREVER

THOSE WHO LEAN ON JESUS' NAME

HAVE THE HOPE

OF ARRIVING SAFELY HOME

WITH HIM.
